Iberia’s Call

There’s a big rumor that Iberia will call for cabin crews this next fall again.
So we post this blog in order to manage some of the steps you will face along the assessment.

You have passed the first phase, the first filter and you already feel the itch, the feeling of all those “… what if…” crowding your head throughout the day.
It is one of those phases that in Qrewmentor we call “life changer”, it changes a small thing, they roll 3 or 4 phases of tests and…

Suddenly
You fly in an airline that you would not have imagined a few months ago.
it was like a myth
And now …
You are part of it.
But let’s go back to the starting point.
Because you are in Step 2, only in Step 2, and the ideas are ordered and disordered in your head and do not leave it.
It is that time when you remember that you should have learned to meditate, relax and have that shaolin monk mind that appears on the internet.

And every time the phone rings, your heart skips a beat and you put on your best British face because “if it’s them”, you have to speak English.

And why do they have to make a phone call in English?
With all the noises there are, the mess of accents and with the effort it involves..
And then, where it catches you..and what if you miss it?Will they reject me?

It’s Better not to think about it.
Or yes..
Let’s face it. At QM we always face these things, we respect emotions and feelings, but things are analyzed from logic and reasoning and that is why our people know what is going through your head and what you should do.
There is a myth of learning another language that says that a person masters a conversation in a language when he is able to maintain it on the phone.

And the myth has its truth. Because this way is the most difficult.
There is no non-verbal communication, there is no face, your gestures are not seen, there is no irony, Second reading, there is little intonation and therefore it is much more complex.

So if the conversation is over the phone in English, it means that you know enough English to function in a daily situation with the vocabulary, the intonation, the rhythm of speech.

And here you must lower your heart rate (we know, it’s not easy), speak more slowly, tone more clearly and use clear and simple language.
And while you are aware of “what I say” They are aware of “how you say it”.

So think of some answers about your day to day, about yesterday and today.
Think a few about your vocation, about your studies and about your work.
And some about how you are. Who you are.
(It is possible they ask you these things, it is possible they ask other very different ones, but those that we have specified above will appear sooner or later)
And once you have thought about them, repeat them over and over again until they come automatically and you can focus on tone, rhythm, and intonation.
And if it goes well… you will go to phase 3.
