FOLLOW THE SOPs AND NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TO YOU.

One of the most important words in today’s aviation is SOPs.

It means Standard Operating Procedures or in Spanish, Standard Operational Procedures.

It is a key word because modern aviation is already well digested, there are many of us operating aircrafts in different parts of the world and (thanks to the Internet) the feedback that is produced when unusual or anomalous things occur is enormous.

The procedures come to tell us what to do and at what time during the normal operation of an aircraft:

Pre flight

Boarding
Engine start up

Taxi
Take off

Climb
Cruise

Descent

Approach

Landing
Taxi

Parking
Disembarkation.

In the beginning (and in the end) everything is written, what to do, when to do it and even who does it and what he says when he does it.

And if we are fair, removing unusual mechanical failures (maintenance also has its SOPs with preventive programs) and very, very adverse weather (which today is known well in advance), if we strictly comply with the SOPs, we can ensure nothing happen will happen to us.

And by this I mean that the flight will always be within the safety margins necessary to carry out the entire operation without any incident.
In Conclusion: Study the SOPs, master them, apply them, and nothing will happen to you.
Meanwhile, May you find peaceful skies.
