How many times have I been told… Be yourself! And it hasn’t worked.
I had a coffee in Da Nang (Vietnam) of those that they put it with egg which gives it has a special flavor… different!
The cabin manager of one of those TOP airlines told me about his experience in the various airline entry processes.
Since I was immersed in selection processes (I’m always there, because it keeps me up to date), I listened carefully.
BE YOURSELF IS A TRAP.
(There will always be people in favor and detractors of this idea, so here is a link that gives an opinion)

What you should be is the “best version of yourself” and that in aviation is a host of things that if you DO NOT comply with them, you will be kicked out of the tests without mercy and with a “try it in 6 months” as a farewell.
You can not be:
· The version of yourself so SHY that you barely speak.
A crew member works communicating all the time (to passengers and colleagues), so be yourself, BUT COMMUNICATIVE.
· The version of yourself always laughing and joking.
They will think that you do not take life and therefore work seriously (you have to be positive but not a minstrel in an airline) and it is better to be SERIOUS than FUNNY.
Your most DISORGANIZED version is not worth it either.
In aviation we work as a team and order is a must to access resources effectively. Us or our colleagues.
Imagine that your “usual” mess causes you to lose or misplace your passport 2 or 3 times between the security check and the boarding gate….
Being organized is a BASIC element in aviation.
So yes, be yourself, but BE BALANCED IN THE EXTREMES.

That moderation, that balance, must come out in a personal interview.
Moderate, balanced, (BALANCED in English) is the concept that we handle in QM both in the books and in the mentoring.

So that the idea stays in our heads and the words flow naturally during the interview.
Think about it.
In the meantime.
May you find Peaceful skies.
