RAPID DISEMBARKATION

Do you know the difference between Rapid Disembarkation and Emergency evacuation?

A RAPID DISEMBARKATION is an expedited exit of the passengers and crew from a PARKED AIRCRAFT using BOARDING ENTRANCE and other Airport Infrastructure.

And when do we have to perform a rapid disembarkation?

The conditions must require the quick disembarkation of the passengers but not so urgent that requires an emergency evacuation. That’s probably the trick for the crew, to determine the level of urgency in the situation in a matter of seconds. Most airlines have their own scenarios considering the conditions, so it’s better to follow strictly your company manual. here we will post the most common among them.

• Fuel Spills that can endanger the aircraft but has no fire.
• Smokes or fumes under control and small size.
• Fire near the aircraft such as an external vehicle
• Accident near or involving the aircraft
• Bomb Threat

One of the biggest problems is that passengers don’t understand the DIFFERENCE between a RAPID DISEMBARKATION and an EMERGENCY EVACUATION

So the INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN ARE VERY IMPORTANT.

The Command given is tailored by each airline and many of them use:

ATTENTION CABIN CREW: CLEAR THE AIRCRAFT IMMEDIATELY

ATTENTION CABIN CREW: RAPID DISEMBARKATION

Cabin crew Commands will involve:

• Leave all personal belongings behind
• Leave the aircraft via stairs or bridge
• Move away from the aircraft
• Don’t smoke
• More information will be given once everyone is off the aircraft.

Coordination is very important and we need a good teamwork between:

• Cockpit crew (Pilots)
• Cabin Crew
• Ground Staff
• Services (ATC and or Fire Services)
