Down Times
In our work, one of the things that shocks the person who is starting out the most (and many have started this summer and many others have started over again), are DOWNTIMES.
It is incredible how in many occasions we have nothing to do, waiting in the most disparate places.
And it is important to develop the ability to take advantage of these times, to read, communicate, be interested in the world (which is also why we travel), rest, meditate, and many other things.

It is much more common than people who do not fly think, that once they are dressed in the uniform and either at home or in the hotel room, we receive a message saying the flight is delayed (the plane is arriving late) and with everything prepared we have to wait between several minutes to a few hours.
That is a dead time.
The number of minutes we spend in a transport from the place of rest to the airport (in Asia these times are even bigger) at the end of the year, is very important.
There are people who listen to music, or some take the opportunity to send a message either on networks, or to their relatives.

Once at the airport, we wait in the waiting rooms, in the crew rooms or at the boarding gates.
Depending on the airline, it is possible that the use of the mobile phone is prohibited or if it is used, it must be done with some discretion.
Sometimes even at the foot of plane we must wait for the disembarkation of the passengers from the previous flight, the arrival of the wheelchairs (which arrive at the beginning of the boarding and at the end of the disembarkation), or for the previous crew to leave the plane “as they would like to find it” and get off it.
The number of hours in a galley without having to serve, in a jumpseat, waiting or in the cockpit are one of the many situations where we must wait with everything done or in a cruise phase with the checks carried out and communicated.

Even at the end of the day in a hotel where you should sleep but YOU CAN’T FALL ASLEEP!
Ir is the thought of someone who has been flying for 30 years and has waited countless hours, with conversations, reading dozens of books, sending thousands of messages, thinking millions of terabytes or even (very healthy and recommended) DOING NOTHING WHATSOEVER.
Happy waiting.
Meanwhile May you Find Peaceful Skies
