“My pencil and I are smarter than me”
It is a magnificent summary of the principle on which CRM is based.
Everything you share gains much more strength than what you keep just for yourself.
In any team, the basis of effectiveness is correct communication.
The better a team understands each other, the fewer words it uses and the more accurate they are.
In aviation there is a clear tendency to use standard words to make teams as efficient as possible.
Even so, it is not always easy (the common language is not the mother tongue of the majority, there are accents, words that differ, moments of tension where applying effective communication is difficult, etc.)
That is why the good use of CRM begins in the entrance exams or even (if you rush me) in the academy.
How?
Interacting with classmates, teachers, staff of the place. Taking an interest in them, leaving the standardized.
Having a coffee with the crew (even if they don’t know each other at all) and showing interest in the person under the uniform.
The CRM has 2 parts, a human one (knowing who you communicate with) and a disciplinary one (what words and communication are used and when).
And with that, the days of flight are much more beautiful and of course, effective.
