Teresa had entered this world because she wanted “the best collection of selfies” in history.

New York (Times Square, the rest is less NY), Maldives, Cayo Coco, Sydney Opera House, Hong Kong (few in her class at school knew an emblematic Hong Kong building really ), but the name of the city sounds pretty exotic.

Paris (with its Disney of course) some party in Ibiza and the desert with the spire of that building in Dubai which is the tallest in the world.
She had plenty of physique for it (in her short 20 years the society of the opposite sex had already made it clear to her), she knew it from her friends, her mother and especially her grandmother who treated her as a queen.
She had to become TCP for one of the good companies, and in her IG circle they were going to freak out with trips, they were going to feel that Teresa was lucky (and a little bit of envy too, they weren’t going to be fooled).

English was what killed her, they invented the words in that language and the pronunciation… That was the worst. But one way or another she would find the solution and she would end up with that big smile on the front page and the wonderful place of the week in the background of the photo.

It would be the screen saver of the group. It was very clear.
Elena needed dosh, money, gold, a comfortable economy, and to quit her job as a waitress in her city.
For what she was paid, she could buy a few things , but from there to become independent… A world.
On the last trip with her boyfriend to the Canary Islands, she had noticed the TCPs on the flight (and even more so at the airport), her boyfriend had also looked at them and she wanted to experience that feeling they gave.
The flight attendants walked through the airport as if they dominated the world, cities, smiled, they were friends, they looked at them and admired them.
They seemed so independent and so solvent, far from what she earned in the cafeteria and also, I’m sure they traveled the world for free, partying, with knowledgeable, beautiful people who speak languages.
She needed to find the money to pay for the course and take the leap.
“World, get ready for Elena to arrive.”
It was only the beginning, then who knows who she could get to know. Everything but to continue in the cafeteria serving coffee and beers.

Olga was curious, she liked to learn. She didn’t talk much, her friends said that she was so shy that she wouldn’t even have flavor with salt, but it was the truth.
Reserved and with more of the world in her than what was shown.
She did like to help, that’s why her friends always took her into account, she did that very well, and she did it because the smile of the helper produced a great and magical feeling in her.
It was clear she wanted to help the world, perhaps an NGO, but not local, something more exotic.
Shy, yes, but maybe traveling would open her up to other people and she could help.
The combination of traveling by plane (being a TCP) helping people to travel safely, receive good care and lend a hand to her colleagues appealed to her the most.
She needed to study (she had searched on the internet) things that she didn’t quite know what they meant (doors, ramps, crosscheck) and subjects that seemed like Top Gun (meteorology, aircraft physics and things like that).
She had read it in the program of the academy in her city and there she had it, on the table in her room.
In September (or maybe in October if they went on a getaway with the group of friends again in September) she could start.
She had no goal.
Just get out of there and help others along the way.

Three years later I had the three girls in my flight briefing.
All of them had started flying for different ways, with their triumphs and with their bitter pills (which aviation also has many of), the three had achieved (each one for their personal reasons, all respectable) what they were initially looking for and at that time they did not know: CHANGE.
In aviation, most get into this business for one of three reasons (I insist on respect for the reasons of each one).
- By STATUS: They seek to climb the social ladder and (with the networks in a much more pronounced way) show society “that I can”.
- For ECONOMY: Not in the short term, at present and until the market stabilizes, the economy is not the strong point of aviation, but there are cycles and therefore in the medium or long term, it allows you to have a life ( let’s say) comfortable enough.
- For PASSION: There are people who would fly and fly or be involved in aviation despite lacking status and economy.
They do it for the simple fact of feeling good. Because of what it gives you and what it takes away and because once inside, they know that it is a place where they feel “at home”.
But in the theee reasons there is actually only ONE that is common to all of them.
CHANGE the current situation.

There are people who love their comfort zone, their home, their work under control and their circle of friends.
There are people (we are fewer) who like to leave this area because in the unknown (good and bad) is the adventure, the dynamic, the change, the evolution (whatever it is).
The vast majority of those who fly are united by this sensation, this hunger to go to other places, with other people, to face the unknown and to learn along the way.
To try to be the opposite is to die in life.
So if you are one of those who has that inner flame that asks you to go out, travel, move, fly…
Something that’s telling you to CHANGE.

Until then, find peaceful skies.
