It is one of the questions that we can find in any current interview, whether asked directly or in a more veiled way.
How would you describe a current pilot?
What kind of pilot do you think you are?
How would your peers describe you?
What style of pilot would you like your Co-pilot / Commander to be?
In the end, the modern pilot must gather a series of general qualities and others adapted to the company for which he flies.
Among the general ones we find:

Ability to solve problems
On a flight, it is normal for problems to be solved that can be anticipated (weather, Notams, type of flight) or with less time available (operational, runway or approach changes, changes due to traffic) among others.

Motivation/ Discipline
Being able to be motivated in a profession which its global changes affect so much is difficult.
Changes in places far from our operation that affect the global economy, can directly affect our work / such as 9-11, or fuel crises or wars)
When the motivation cannot be sustained (many current pilots have spent 2 years without work or the possibility of any relocation) they have based their ability to return to the labor market so intensely based on personal discipline.

Situational Awareness
Understanding the flight situation in real time and being able to anticipate possible events, not what is going to happen but what can happen and translate it into a plan to carry out the Operation in the most efficient manner possible requires skill and training.

Prioritization
Knowing the priorities of the flight and the operation and knowing how to re-adapt these priorities to the changes that may occur throughout a flight or series of flights is very important. Understanding what the biggest problem is and sequencing it so you can fix it in the correct order is a basic skill for a pilot.
There are more, many more, and we will tell you about them in successive posts. Until then, find peaceful skies.
